Pampering is Therapeutic!!

Is your body taking a beating from you? Time for a "time-out". Time to plan for a pampering session. Try a therapeutic massage. Believe it or not, most massages are inexpensive. Getting an hour long, full body, swedish massage will run you approximately between $50-$60 from a licensed therapist. If you are on a budget, try a local massage school (a student or graduate needing more practice hours) and your cost may be $25-$30. Below lists the physical and mental benefits of massage therapy:

Physical Benefits of Therapeutic Massage
Helps relieve stress and aids relaxation
Helps relieve muscle tension and stiffness
Alleviates discomfort during pregnancy
Promotes deeper and easier breathing
Improves circulation of blood and movement of lymph fluids
Reduces blood pressure
Improves posture

Mental Benefits of Massage Therapy
Fosters peace of mind and relieves stress
Promotes a relaxed state of mental alertness
Improves ability to monitor stress signals and respond appropriately
Enhances capacity for calm thinking and creativity
Emotional Benefits
Satisfies needs for caring nurturing touch
Fosters a feeling of well-being
Reduces levels of anxiety

Go Red for Women!!

On Friday, February 5, the National Wear Red Day is encouraging women to wear the color red to show their support for prevention of heart disease. The goal of the campaign is to reduce coronary heart disease and stroke risk by 25% in 2010.

Heart disease is often perceived as a man's disease, but that fact couldn't be more wrong. "Go Red for Women" is spreading the word to women about how to talk to their doctors, what simple things we can do to avoid and prevent heart disease and how to help others like themselves.

Escaping to a New Year!

Greetings ladies! We are blessed to be here another year and are very excited for the future of Escape2Sisterhood. We started the New Year by traveling to beautiful, historic Charleston South Carolina for a relaxing escape for the weekend. The trip was filled with beautiful sites, entertainment, great food, pampering, and amazing people! This trip was educational and culturally enriching as well! We loved our visit and look forward to returning.

Our Mini-Escapes are designed to help women briefly escape from the daily mental and physical stress encounters and focus on ourselves. The goal is to gain exposure with each new visit- hoping to incorporate each "escape" into our lives then pass on the concept to another sister in need.

We will keep you posted on the location of the next Mini-Escape occurring once each quarter.
